What is there to be said about the iPad that hasn’t been said already? This amazing device brought to us by the Genius that was Steve Jobs has now undergone an overall and has been released in its second incarnation the iPad 2.

The iPad 2 is the leading, and quite frankly the only really high quality handheld tablet available on the market today.

The IPad 2 is a magnificently designed device as you would come to expect from apple. The engineering is amazing and a definite improvement over the original iPad with an amazingly thin profile and a tapered edge that makes it feel much more “natural” to hold.

Don’t let this thinner, lighter weighing device lead you into think Apple may have had to compromise by removing some features, quite the opposite this version of the iPad is even more feature packed than its predecessor.

The iPad 2 has had its ram beefed up, in fact double 512MB to so you get a lot more processing power and grunt from this incarnation than the original version which had 256mb, this leads to less slow down and a more smooth graphic experience, in particular on the more resource intensive games.

The addition of extra grunt provided by this extra ram also allows from a more smooth experience when multitasking, something that wasn’t initially released with the original iPad but was later included in a Operating System upgrade.

One of the main new features is the addition of two cameras, which is a lot of fun in particular when used with face time.

Mentioning the pros of getting an iPad would not be complete without mentioning the tens of thousands of applications (or apps as they are commonly known) available on the iTunes app store. There is everything you could possibly think of from games like the extremely popular angry birds to business applications, to diet and fitness programs, astronomy and weather along with way too many more to even try to mention.

For those who find the price of the iPad 2 a little steep there is the option of the kindle fire, which whilst it doesn’t have the raw power of the ipad 2 for doing more business related tasks, works fantastically well as a media device for a fraction for a fraction of the price

It’s the perfect gift this Christmas for the geek, business man or just the novice user who wants to use it for games and as a media device.

One thing that is for certain gifting the iPad this Christmas will see you became and extremely popular person!

Unfortunately there is still no flash, usb or sd card support, and the cameras whilst a lot of fun are not as high quality as some would like.

Despite this realtively minor negatives, the iPad 2 warrants serious consideration to take pride of place under your Christmas tree this festive season.

The Ipad 2 comes in ironically at number 2 on the Christmas gifts 2011 Top Ten list, but if it you are looking to gift something to someone tech savvy who requires more than just a media device (as is the case with our number one rated item this year the kindle fire) then it takes equal first place.
